What is BLN?
The Business Leadership Network (BLN) is a business-led initiative that promotes
best practices to enhance employment opportunities to candidates and provide
exceptional service to customers with disabilities.
Network members will:
- Be able to get answers to all the questions they have about employing disabled people. In these days of Political Correctness people feel they have to be very careful what they say. This is not the case within the BLN
- Be informed about entitlements and assistance available from ACC or WINZ.
- Get good access to a pool of suitable applicants. People who will be fully supported in their return to work if necessary.
- Get a chance to share good ideas and explore opportunities with other proactive organisations.
- Improve their relationships and understanding of the disabled markets (15% with physical disabilities).
How long has BLN been around?
The BLN was conceived in 2002 by a small group of employers who were
concerned that more than 60% of working-age people with disabilities were
unemployed. This model purports a primary business principle-success breeds
success. When an employer talks about the benefits of hiring candidates with
disabilities, other employers are eager to do the same.
How do I join BLN?
Contact Kaleidoscope to receive further information. Kaleidoscope will send
you information on benefits, activities, and how to join.
Can a small to medium size business fit into the BLN?
Since small and medium size companies do the majority of hiring in New Zealand,
their participation in the BLN is essential.
