Team members are familiar with the latest equipment and software available and endeavour to keep their skills and knowledge as up to date as possible. The Burwood Assistive Technology Centre has information on the latest technology available. A range of equipment is available for trial and assessment. Links with equipment suppliers are maintained for access to demonstration and loan equipment.

Training

The Burwood Assistive Technology Centre recognises the importance of training as a component of the provision of high technology assistive devices. Where it is appropriate specialised training is provided as part of an assessment in order to determine whether a solution being trialed meets a client’s needs. Training is an important aspect of a client being able to access and use the equipment and software recommended. Recommendations for training tailored to a client’s specific needs are an integral part of an assessment.
